Autumn Equinox Weekend

September 18 @ 7:00 pm - September 20 @ 12:00 pm

Whether we care to admit it to ourselves or not! Everything in life is Cyclical.

At least Twice a year we are reminded of this by the Universal Clock which has been ticking long before Humans figured out how to invent the familiar device which seems to rule most peoples lives these days, known as the Clock.

During this time of the Year, the celestial orbit of the Moon gives us a sign of ultimate balance. Equanimity between the Daylight hours and those of the Night time. A balance between the Darkness and the Light in our External surroundings, is a perfect time to reflect upon the balance to our inner world.

In the Old Days, the Harvest would be in by now, and the hard slog since Spring would be very near, or at completion. In the Pre-Christian calendar, it was traditionally marked by a time of Thanksgiving and Reflection. Rituals were held to remind the Clan that they were to appreciate the Earth’s bounty which was ripening on the trees and bushes all around them, and to enjoy relax a little as they gather those free gifts for which they did not have to labour. The Rituals marked a time of reward for the efforts made over the past 6 months, and at the same time a reminder to prepare for the winter.

And, still even in 2020, by the Powerful tick of  this Universal Clock, regardless of what is going on in our physical world, this Equinox of Autumn comes around again, and we are reminded to Reflect and if necessary, to restore a similar Balance in our inner lives.

You are most welcome to join Fr. Michael, Sr. Breda, and Myself, as we gather in Tearmann, Glendalough to carry on those ancient rituals  out of reverence to those who have gone before us, and to mark a tradition for those who will come after us.

Reflections begin after evening Mass in Tearmann at 7pm. on Friday 18th, and conclude at 12 Mid-day on Sunday 2oth.

Accommodation in Tearmann is limited at this time, so early booking is recommended. You are of course welcome to join in, without being one of our residential guests. We are limiting the outdoor event to a maximum of 40 people.

We look forward to your company.
