June is a month of abundance. life is expressed everywhere in great variety and beauty. it is also the month of Kevin, our patron saint of Glendalough who was founder of a Christian monastic settlement in the valley in the sixth century. He lived as a hermit in solitude on the shore of the upper lake. In his own way he planted a seed that became a great tree expressed in a variety of Christian communities that have formed in Glendalough down the centuries.
Life is a journey outwards and inward to the original seed or source from which it all developed. It became an experience of growth and expression, full of possibilities with hope of an ultimate destination.
The feast of Pentecost is a celebration of the Christian community worldwide which now numbers around two billion people. It has become a great tree planted in a humble way by Jesus of Nazareth two thousand years ago.
